Can you do detail? We're hiring a Prep Technician

We’re an independent custom paint shop in the Surrey Hills, near Guildford. We specialise in high-end wet paint finishes for cycling brands and private customers including, Giro Cafe, Tifosi and Clif Bar.

Growth at our sister brands, Spoon Customs and WyndyMilla and our own expanding roster of creative, technical and warranty work means we need more help in the workshop.

We’re looking for someone with exceptional attention to detail. A hard working person who’s comfortable in a busy and creative workshop environment. Ideally you will like working independently as part of a small and highly skilled team. Experience is useful - especially in automotive paint systems or body shop experience - but the right attitude and an eye for detail, a willingness to learn and work your way up is just as important.

The work can be very manual and depends on high levels of concentration, feel and precision but can be very rewarding and (after training) you’ll eventually be responsible for prepping and masking operations on pro-level road and mountain bike frames and components from all of the well known bike brands.

The majority of the work will be in prepping and masking carbon and metal substrates ready for painting. The role will develop from sanding and prep’ into priming operations and eventually (providing you can demonstrate the right attitude and skills) the potential for training in all aspects of custom painting and finishing.

As the company expands there is great career potential for someone who can apply themselves to the work, learn, develop their skills and progress within the business.

The day to day work will also involve booking-in and managing the diary and include some contact with customers as well as managing deliveries, post and emails in and out as required. We are a small business, so you’ll be expected to muck in and do what’s required from time to time to get the job done.

If you’d like to work with us, we’d love to hear from you. Write with your current CV and brief covering letter, to andy@guncontrolpaint.com and tell us a little bit about yourself and why you would like to join our team.

We pay competitive rates and offer a supportive working environment in a lovely workshop near some great mountain bike and walking trails at the top of Puttenham Common. The package includes the usual benefits including 4 weeks paid holiday.
